This year’s C&M Local Section annual lecture will be given by Mr Ryan Kerstein, a Surgical Innovator and Healthcare Technologist. He is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon, and Skin Cancer Lead at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. He is also the Editor of the Royal College of Surgeons (Eng) Bulletin journal.In additional to his clinical role he has over 17 year’s experience in Health Innovation. At a local level he serves as the Trust’s Associate Medical Director for Research and Innovation. Nationally, he leads the Royal College of Surgeons of England’s Innovation-Hub (I-Hub), supporting frontline surgical innovators across the NHS.
Ryan’s interest in Medtech started in 2004 when he founded ASep Healthcare Ltd to commercialise Tournistrip, a single-use tourniquet he designed as a student. The venture has sold over 70 million Tournistrips in 30 countries. During the COVID pandemic, he co-founded WeShare.Healthcare, a social enterprise aiming to rapidly share clinical innovation to support healthcare services. Ryan also advises several healthcare start-ups.
The lecture will be followed by a hot buffet and this is an opportunity to celebrate the long service of our members who have reached significant milestones in service.
